Hof van Jacob
The headquarters of elderly organisation Sint Jacob sits exactly where it should: right in the middle of the campus called "Hof van Jacob" in Haarlem.
Hof van Jacob isn’t your typical campus. It’s a lively residential campus made up of multiple buildings where elderly live surrounded by gardens, neighbours and everyday life. The philosophy is beautifully simple: care shouldn’t be tucked away. It should be woven into daily life. Because when you care for people, the best place to lead froml, is right in the middle of it all.

The design triangle
The building is designed by 2by4-architecten and is made entirely out of timber. The triangular shape they came up with was a gift for us to work with.
Why you ask? Because a triangular shape immediately gives direction. It introduces a natural sense of orientation for people. Three clear sides, three clear points and an inevitable pull toward the centre.
Let the geometry lead
We placed the desks along the façade to maximise daylight and views, creating calm, focused edges. Right in the middle we have the break area also known as the the social heart of the office. Open, visible and connected to everything around it.
Meeting rooms, phone booths and so called support spaces such as the printers are carefully positioned along the internal route, keeping the plan efficient and easy to navigate.
Sustainability shaping the interior
Our client Sint Jacob challenged us to think creatively and to recycle as much as possible. We happily accepted.
Instead of ordering everything new, we went treasure hunting. We reused what was already available, refreshed pieces that still had life in them and bought new piece of furniture only where truly needed.
